May 7, 2009 - Stillborn

  Victoria, Texas (TX)

Brief Story: She was diagnosed with T13. She had bilateral cleft lip and palate, 6 fingers on both hands, rocker bottom feet, a hole in her heart between the lower chambers of her heart, and her brain was 3 weeks behind her body.

I found out when I found out what gender she was at 20w that she could possibly have cleft palate and lip but they couldn't confirm it cuz she kept turning. I saw a specialist at 23w4d and he confirmed all the birth defects stated in the story and they did an amnio on me to confirm the Trisomy 13.

My daughter was diagnosed with Trisomy 13 aka Patau's Syndrome. It's kinda like Down's Syndrome but instead of extra 21 chromosome, she had the extra 13 chromosome. Most babies miscarry before birth (as my daughter did), some miscarry during birth because of the pressure, and some live through birth but only live minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, maybe some even years. She had bilateral cleft lip and cleft palate, 6 fingers on both hands, rocker bottom feet, a hole in her heart between the lower chambers (VSD) and her brain wasn't developing right. It was 3 weeks behind her body.

I was 25 weeks and 5 days when I miscarried. Well I could've been 25 weeks and 3, 4, or 5 days. It was last Wednesday when I went to the ER and got admitted to L&D. Last Wednesday I realized I hadn't felt her move in 2 days. Yes I know, some parents are saying, "oh wow 2 days", but being so high risk my Dr told me to go to the ER. May I add I had a Dr appt on Thursday... Well long story short I went in at 7:30P.M. central time, they hooked me up to a baby monitor, found no heartbeat, then hooked me up to a Doppler, found no heartbeat. So then they ordered an U/S. They went to take pictures and found Jamie not moving, and she had no heartbeat. So she had passed... They induced me at 10:30P.M., then again at 2:30A.M.(Thursday), then again at 6:30A.M. At that time I was only dilated to a 1. Well needless to say my water broke at 9:20A.M. and I had my stillborn baby girl at 9:28A.M.

I got to hold her before they cleaned her off, and after. She was soo adorable and I just wanted to keep her in my room with me.

I miss my little girl! I wish I could just spend a couple more minutes with her!
